There are many ways in which we can make a difference and save energy.

  • Replacing light bulbs with energy saving light bulbs means you will be using up to 80% less electricity and at work perhaps consider if you could fit PIR sensors to certain areas of your lighting so that these lights are only used when people are in the vicinity.
  • Take control of your heating – by fitting and correctly making use of time programmers, room thermostats, cylinder thermostats and thermostatic radiator valves you can ensure you are only heating the areas you need to, at the times they are in use and to the level you require, saving as much as 40% on your annual heating bill.
  • Switch it off! Whether at home or at work leaving appliances switched on or in standby mode can use as much as 60% of the electricity used when an appliance is fully switched on. An average office could save as much as £6,000 each year by making sure all of its employees turn equipment off overnight, at weekends and during holidays.

Buildings use almost half of the UK’s generated energy. The combined energy we use to heat, light and power our homes and offices is responsible for 30% of the country’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. As a result, it really is up to each and every one of us to ensure we use equipment as energy efficiently as possible.

In line with our own policies on environmental responsibility, we actively encourage all of our clients to find ways of utilizing sustainable and renewable energy so that we can all reduce our impact on the environment, both now and for future generations to come. As approved NICEIC electrical contractors, with close links to a number of companies who share our enthusiasm to drive home the ‘green’ issues linked to our homes and businesses, we enjoy an enviable reputation amongst building contractors and individuals alike and are in an ideal position to advise our clients on the benefits of installing environmentally friendly solutions and systems.
